A government TD has questioned a delay by the Health Service Executive (HSE) in deciding whether to proceed with plans for the development of a new Emergency Department at University Hospital Galway (UHG).

Fianna Fail TD Lisa Chambers has expressed her deep concern and frustration at the HSE over figures showing that in the first four months of this year 29 children were being treated within adult mental health services.

The Health Service Executive announced yesterday that planning permission has been approved for two new primary care centres in Westport and Claremorris. The tender process by the National Development Finance Agency is under way. The primary care centres will be located at Kilcolman Road, Claremorris, and Toberhill, Westport. For the 10th year running, HSE staff in Mayo have launched the annual Bronntanas Appeal in the run-up to Christmas.
